Just came back from Borders :]
Was actually looking for the 3rd sequel
of Vampire Academy. But the book hasn't
shipped in yet though it was published
>.< A pity luhs. So I bought the 1st sequel
instead =.= Waiting for the 3rd book to
fly into Singapore then buy :D Anyway,
I've got a new book to read. My friend
recommended me a book. Plotting is
quite nice though for me abit chim xP
Here's another synopsis of the book.
I've added one article that has recently
created uproar among the schools. It is
about a birthday girl from ACJC being tied
and had food stuffed into her mouth.
What'd you think? Humiliation or
celebration? To me, they are using
birthday as an excuse to bully her in
such a way. Pls poll behind whether you
approve such an act or not =]
#1 Hannibal Rising
by Thomas Harris
Synopsis:
Before Red Dragon...
Before The Silence of the Lambs...
Thomas Harris shows us Hannibal Lecter as he
becomes the most frightening man in the world...
On the Eastern Front are all the ingredients to make
a monster. This brilliant orphaned child has demons
lurking in the chambers of his memory, gouging him
with fragments of his hideous past.
If he can confront the demons in his heart and brain,
he can find them in the flesh, hunt them down and
achieve a kind of peace.
A beautiful and exotic woman takes him to her heart,
using every weapon and every wile at her command
to save him from the dark, to stem the terrible forces
unleashed by Hannibal Lecter's first taste of blood.

ACJC Hazing: Student tied up and humiliated
First, it was a clip of an initiation rite for a new
Singapore Civil Defence Force recruit that raised
eyebrows last week. He was stripped, tied and had
black shoe polish smeared over him.
And now, a clip of a birthday girl from elite school
Anglo Chinese Junior College (ACJC) who was tied
and had food stuffed into her face has made its way
online and turned people's attention to ragging
again.
''It's too extreme. Maybe she's not well-liked and
(the prank) was a way to bully her.'' said JC student
Tay, 17.
Dr Simon Siew, a consultant psychiatrist from
Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, said ''the prank
was carried out at the expense of someone's self-
esteem and dignity''.
''The girl might have bad memories and nightmares
of the incident,'' he added.

2nd sequel together in this post.
And there's this Marley & Me book.
It's quite popular also.
I bought it and now I'm reading it :]
A synopsis of it will also be posted up today.
#1 Vampire Academy
by Richelle Mead
Synopsis:
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess:
a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to
the earth's magic. She must be protected at all
times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most
dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.
The powerful blend of human and vampire blood
that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best
friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a
dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi,
who are hell-bent on making her one of them.
After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa
are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's
Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana.
Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa
will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi
social scene. And both girls will resume breaking
Academy hearts.
Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St.
Vladimir's--inside the Academy's iron gates, their
world is even fraught with danger. Here, the
cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable
rituals and their secretive nature and love of the
night creates an enigmatic world full of social
complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through
this dangerous world, confront the temptation of
forbidden romance, and never once let their guard
down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them
forever...

including the legendary Janine Hathaway... Rose's
formidable, long-absent mother. The Strigoi are closing
in, and the Academy's not taking any risks... This year,
St. Vlad's holiday ski trip is mandatory.
But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho
resort only provide the illusion of safety. When three
students run away to strike back against the deadly
Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue
them. Only this time, Rose-and her heart- are in more
danger than she ever could have imagined!
Praise for Vampire Academy:

#3 Shadow Kiss
by Richelle Mead
Synopsis:
It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and
Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation.
Since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't
been feeling quite right. She's having dark
thoughts, behaving erratically, and worst of all...
might be seeing ghosts. As Rose questions her
sanity, new complications arise. Lissa has begun
experimenting with her magic once more, their
enemy Victor Dashkov might be set free, and
Rose's forbidden relationship with Dimitri is
starting to heat up again. But when a deadly
threat no one saw coming changes their entire
world, Rose must put her own life on the line--
and choose between the two people she loves most.
Marley & Me
by john grogan
Synopsis:
John and Jenny were young and deeply in love,
with a perfect little house and not a care in the
world. Then they brought home Marley, a wiggly
yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be
the same.
Marley quickly grew into an uncontrollable
ninety-seven pound steamroller of a Labrador
retriever. Expelled from obedience school, even
the tranquillisers prescribed by the vet couldn't
stop him.
Yet through the chaos and the hilarity he won
hearts and remained a steadfast model of
devotion to his family, even when they were
at their wits' end. Unconditional love, they would
learn, comes in many forms.
Praise for Marley & me:
The reason Marley & Me has proved to be a
bestseller is that it is not just a funny dog story...
it's also an honest and raw account of a young
couple's desire to have children, their fears they
won't be able to do the right thing by the family
they created. It's a universal story of family life,
and a publishing sensation.

# 13 To Citriodora
by William Shakespeare (all credits go to the author)
I turn and see you passing in the street
When you are not. I take another way,
Lest missing you the fragrance of the day
Exhale, and I know not that it is sweet.
And marking you I follow, and when we meet
Love laughs to see how sudden I am gay;
Sweetens the air with fragrance like a spray
If sweet verbena, and bids my heart to beat.
Love laughs; and girls that take you by the hand,
Know that a sweet thing has befallen them;
And women give their hearts into your heart.
There is, I think, no man in all the land
But would be glad to touch your garment's hem
And I, I love you with a love apart.
#14 Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?
by William Shakespeare (all credits go to the author)
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course, untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest;
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
#15 I Want to Die While You Love Me
by Georgia Douglas Johnson (all credits go to the author)
I want to die while you love me,
While yet you hold me fair,
While laughter lies upon my lips
And lights are in my hair.
I want to die while you love me
And bear to that still bed
Yours kisses turbulent, unspent
To warm me when I'm dead.
I want to die while you love me
Oh, who would care to live
Till love has nothing more to ask
And nothing more to give?
I want to die while you love me
And never, never see
The glory of this perfect day
Grow dim or cease to be!

News
(1)Net Socialising is not a bad thing after all: Study
New York- Good news for worries parents: All
those hours their teenagers spend socialising on
the Internet are not a bad thing, according to a new
study in the United States.
It may look as though kids are wasting a lot of time
hanging out with new media, whether it's on
MySpace or sending instant messages,'' said
Ms Mizuko Ito, lead researcher on the study,
Living and Learning With New Media.
''But their participation is giving them the
technological skills and literacy they need to
succeed in the contemporary world. They're
learning how to get along with others, how to manage
a public identity, how to create a home page,''
she said.
''Those concerns about predators and stranger
danger have been overblown,'' she said. ''There's
been some confusion about what their kids are
actually doing online. Mostly, they're socialising
with friends, people they've met at school or
camp or sports.''
While online socialising is ubiquitous, many young
people move on to a period of exploration online,
looking for information or experimenting with
digital media production, the study found.
(2)Want a camera that produce cool 3D images?
COME August or September next year, your
wish might just come true. Fujifilm has developed
what it calls the FinePix Real 3D system that will
give the world's first consumer three-dimensional
digital camera.
The camera is able to take both 3D and 2D images
and videos. A press of a button lets you view the
2D and 3D versions of the same image or video.
The biggest potential of the dual-lens system of
the 3D camera is in 2D photos. E.g you can shoot
simultaneous telephoto and wide-angel images,
and ultra-wide panoramas in real time. Or, you
can shoot video and still pictures with different
exposure settings at the same time.
#10 Neutral Tones
by Thomas Hardy (all credits go to the author)
We stood by a pond that winter day,
And the sun was white, as though chidden of God,
And a few leaves lay on the starving sod;
They had fallen from an arsh, and were gray.
Your eyes on me were as eyes that rove
Over tedious riddles of years ago;
And some words played between us to and fro
On which lost the more by our love.
The smile on your mouthwas the deadest thing
Alive enough to have strength to die;
And a grin of bitterness swept thereby
Like an ominous bird a-wing...
Since then, keen lessons that love deceives,
And wrings with wrong, have shaped to me
Your face, and the God-curst sun, and a tree,
And a pond edged with grayish leaves.
#11 Heart! We Will Forget Him
by Emily Dickinson (all credits go to the author)
Heart! We will forget him!
You and I - tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave -
I will forget the light!
When you have done, pray tell me
That I may straight begin!
Haste! lest while you're lagging
I remember him!
#12 Time does not bring relief
by Edna St. Vincent Millay (all credits go to the author)
Time does not bring relief, you all have lied
Who told me time would ease me of my pain!
I miss him in the weeping of the rain;
I want him at the shrinking of the tide;
The old snows melt from every mountain-side,
And last year's leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year's bitter loving must remain
Heaped on my heart, and my old thoughs abide.
There are a hundred places where I fear
To go, - so with his memory they brim.
And entering with relief some quiet place
Where never fell his foot or shone his face
I say, ''There is no memory of him here!''
And so stand stricken, so remembering him.

Hiie angels :)
I may be slacking during holidays,
But I do bother to read books!
Yea, I used to hate books.
Surprisingly, they're alright to me now.
I read only a few nice ones though.
Hahas. Pathetic huh?
Just started reading not long ago only.
Anyway, I came across one interesting novel.
It's a 2nd sequel of the whole series.
I'll put up the synopsis some day later.
Anyway, polls are done finally... =.=

#7 Deep in Love
by Bhavabhuti (all credits go to the author)
Deep in love
cheek leaning on cheek we talked
of whatever came to our minds
just as it came
slowly oh
slowly
with our arms twined
tightly around us
and the hours passed and we did not know it
still talking when
the night had gone
#8 She Tells Her Love While Half Asleep
by Robert Graves (all credits go to the author)
She tells her love while half asleep
In the dark hours,
With half-words whispered low:
As Earth stirs in her winter sleep
And puts out grass and flowers
Despite the snow,
Despite the falling snow.
#9 The First Day
by Christina Rossetti (all credits go to the author)
I wish I could remember the first day,
First hour, first moment of your meeting me;
If bright or dim the season, it might be
Summer or winter for aught I can say.
So unrecorded did it slip away,
So blind was I to see and to forsee,
So dull to mark the budding of my tree
That would not blossom yet for many a May.
If only I could recollect it! Such
A day of days! I let it come and go
As traceless as a thaw of bygone snow.
It seemed to mean so little, meant so much!
If only now I could recall that touch,
First touch of hand in hand!-Did one but know!
By the way, I'm trying to put up some polls under 'whisper' later on.
If you're free, do vote! Thanks :D Will inform you again when
the polls section is done. Nights all.

English Translations:
I was so happy, you were laughing
With a smile that melts everything away
Spring is still far away, inside the cold earth,
Waiting for the time to sprout
For instance, even if today is painful
And yesterday's wounds remain
I want to believe that I can free my heart and go on
I cannot be reborn
But I can change as I go on, so
Let's stay together always
Smile only at me and touch me with those fingers
This simple desire is everlasting
I want things to be simple
Let's finally get across this sea of mournful sorrow
For instance, even if today is painful
Someday it will become a warm memory
If you leave everything up to your heart
I understand the meaning our living here
It is to know the joy of having been born
Let's stay together always
For instance, even if today is painful
Someday it will become a warm memory
If you leave everything up to your heart
I understand the meaning our living here
It is to know the joy of having been born
Let's stay together always
Ok, let's continue with the poems...

Asleep,
Face to the wall.
I said,
How dreams
Can lie!
But you were not there at all!

#1 The Taxi
by Amy Lowell (all credits go to the author)
When I go away from you
The world beats dead
Like a slackened drum.
I call out for you against the jutted stars
And shout into the ridges of the wind.
Streets coming fast,
One after the other,
Wedge you away from me,
And the lamps of the city prick my eyes
So that I can no longer see your face.
Why should I leave you,
To wound myself upon the sharp edges of the night?
#2 In Your Light I Learn How To Love
by Rumi (all credits go to the author)
In your light I learn how to love,
In your beauty, how to make poems.
You dance inside my chest,
where no one sees you,
but sometimes I do,
and that sight becomes this art.
#3 A Sonnet of the Moon
by Charles Best (all credits go to the author)
Look how the pale queen of the silent night
Doth cause the ocean to attend upon her,
And he, as long as she is in his sight,
With her full tide is ready her to honor.
But when the silver waggon of the moon
Is mounted up so high he cannot follow,
The sea calls home his crystal waves to moan,
And with low ebb doth manifest his sorrow,
So you that are the sovereign of my heart
Have all my joys attending on your will;
My joys low-ebbing when you do depart,
When you return their tide my heart doth fill.
So as you come and as you do depart,
Joys ebb and flow within my tender heart.
If you have any interesting poems, books, quotes, movies etc to share, pls do tell me on msn (: Ohya, remember to include your reviews too. I will post them up whenever I am free.
